Zumba
Zumba combines high energy and motivating music with unique moves and combinations that allow the Zumba participants to dance away their worries. It is based on the principle that a workout should be "FUN AND EASY TO DO" in order for Zumba participants to stick to the Zumba fitness program to achieve long-term health benefits. Zumba is not only great for the body, but is also great for the mind. It is a "feel-happy" workout.
ZUMBA is a fusion of Latin and International music - dance themes creating a dynamic, exciting, effective fitness system! The routines feature aerobic/fitness interval training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body. Zumba utilizes the principals of fitness interval training and resistance training to maximize caloric output, fat burning and total body toning. It is a mixture of body sculpting movements with easy to follow dance steps.

“Burn 500 calories an hour with the hot new workout!”

The June 13, 2006 edition of Woman’s World Magazine ran an article about Zumba that stated, “Burn 500 calories with the hot new workout!” Is it true?  Can one of your participants burn 500 calories in your class? Absolutely!   Recently, a Zumba instructor shared with us a specific example:  A Zumba participant who wears a calorie burning monitor reported to have burned 700 calories in a 55-minute class.  Calorie burning capacity depends on the motivational level of the instructor and the individual’s level of effort, but indeed major calorie burning is possible
